 As a form of improved services for the public, the Social Security Agency (BPJS) Health broadest open space for participants to gain more benefits (especially in the case of non-medical benefits) through the coordination of benefits schemes or coordination of benefits (COB) with private insurance companies. Besides stipulated in Article 28 of Presidential Decree No. 111 of 2013, the COB scheme is expected to improve services for students who can afford to pay more. COB principle BPJS Health are coordinating benefits imposed if participants BPJS buy additional health insurance from Health Insurance Program Operator or other Guarantee Agency in cooperation with the Health BPJS.
Health BPJS will guarantee the appropriate fee rates applicable to the National Health Insurance program (JKN), while the difference will be the responsibility of the commercial insurance for in accordance with the applicable rules and procedures.
